The Eagles have denied clearance applications by brothers Nathan and Mark Murphy.
Nathan, a midfielder, was appointed assistant coach to Panmure’s new coach David Haynes back in October.
Mark Murphy, the Eagles’ leading goalscorer last year in the Hampden league with 66 majors, is expected to be a key figure in the Bulldogs’ midfield and up forward.
Under AFL Victoria rules, clubs can only reject a clearance if a player is contracted, owes money or possesses club property. The brothers’ contracts with the Eagles expired at the end of last October.
Haynes was unable to be reached for comment. As clearances flow in, the Eagles have suffered another blow with young key position player Darcy Keast announcing he won’t return from university studies in Geelong to play this season. Keast has lodged a clearance to join Geelong Football League runner-up Leopold.
He has been impressive in key defensive posts and has spent time pinch-hitting in the ruck for the Eagles in recent seasons.
In other clearance moves, Warrnambool midfielders Otto Oppermann and John Paulin are seeking transfers.
Oppermann is looking to join Colac and District league side Lorne while Paulin wants to switch to Warrnambool and District league club Nirranda.
Cobden’s VFL-listed midfielder Daniel Semmens has relocated to Geelong so he is looking to join major league club St Joseph’s, while Bombers youngster Lincoln Dare has lodged an application to cross to Colac and District league side Alvie.
