Adam Brown, 21, of Johns Lane, appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court last week for a contest mention hearing charged with three briefs of evidence.

Magistrate Ron Saines said Brown had been filmed on a security camera with a mints container filled with ice deal bags less than a fortnight after being charged with trafficking ice.

He said the prosecution had a very strong case and only a jail term was appropriate.

After Brown pleaded guilty to a reduced number of charges, Mr Saines imposed a two-month jail sentence to be followed by a 12-month community corrections order including 120 hours of community work, treatment and assessment conditions and urine screens.

Brown also pleaded guilty to driving in a dangerous manner after crashing into and destroying a bus shelter in Wanstead Street while on his phone. He was disqualified from driving for six months. 

A police search on September 26 at Brown’s home, uncovered 10.3 grams of methamphetamine, two ecstasy tablets and $750 cash in his wallet.

The 10.3 grams was in deal bags containing two grams, one gram and .1g.

Another 23g of a crystal substance was found in a loungeroom cupboard. One bag contained five grams of ice which spot tested as fairly weak. The other 18g was not ice.

There was also drug paraphernalia including two sets of digital scales, deal bags, notebooks about drug deals and a mobile phone contained evidence of trafficking.

In an interview with police, Brown admitted trafficking daily for almost two months from the start of August. 

He said he bought seven grams of ice the night before the raid for $3000 which police said had a street value of between $4900 and $7000.

Brown said he sold ice to pay his $400-a-week rent and to support his almost daily dug use.
