The minister said on Wednesday he hadn’t yet turned his mind to what the government will do about the site.
“There are ongoing negotiations with the federal government about agricultural training. I guess Glenormiston will be part of that,” he said.
The minister labelled what had happened to agriculture training in Victoria a “disgrace”.
“We used to be a leader in the field. Now we’ve seen colleges close and we’ve seen opportunities for people in agriculture decline,” Mr Herbert said.
“There needs to be greater attention to it.”
Mr Herbert said he intended to look at the training needs not only of industry but also of farms.
“I want to look at that in terms of management and skills and what they can do to enhance profitability and improve agriculture training in this state. Glenormiston will be something we will look at in that process.”
