Gary James Robinson, 37, of Killarney, is listed to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on February 23 charged with eight offences.
The charges are a result of a two-year investigation by Victorian and Commonwealth fisheries authorities which monitored movements of Mr Robinson’s fishing boat and catches.
They include six counts of knowingly providing false or misleading catch returns and contravening permit conditions in breach of the Commonwealth Fisheries Management Act 1991, and two counts of similar allegations in relation to offences under the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995.
The latter offences each carry a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment.
If proven, they could breach a suspended jail sentence imposed for previous fishing offences.
