Detectives from the Cold Case and Missing Persons Squad believe it is the body of Gordon Hamm, a 34-year-old drug dealer reported missing in July 2013.
The body was discovered about 11am on Thursday and will be forensically examined.
Two men from Mt Gambier, a 29-year-old and a 35-year-old, were extradited to Victoria and charged with the 34-year-old's murder in July 2013. A 21-year-old Mt Gambier man was extradited to Victoria and was charged with accessory to murder in October 2013.
However all three men were found not guilty of murder, but guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter by the Supreme Court last December.
They were remanded by Justice Michael Croucher to appear for a pre-sentence hearing in February.
