Troy Sexton, 36, of Old Port Campbell Road, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to threatening to inflict serious injury and unlawful assault with a weapon.

Shortly after 10pm on November 30 last year Sexton walked from his home and approached the two women in Curdies Street.

He brandished two knives and made threats towards one woman, including: “Don’t come near my house or I’ll cut your throat.”

He also approached within two metres of the other woman while holding the knives, causing her to fear being assaulted.

Magistrate Peter Mellas said that from time-to-time people rubbed up against each other but Sexton needed to set boundaries in the way he dealt with others.

He said in this case there had been a threat made, Sexton did have weapons and the charge was serious, even if in the defendant’s mind he had been bluffing.
