Detective Sergeant Steve Brown, of Portland police’s crime investigation unit, said the 25-year-old victim went to a family-owned property in Flowers Road, Heathmere, about 8.30pm.
“When he entered the house he was accosted by two offenders,” Detective Sergeant Brown said.
“One man appeared to drop from a manhole while the second came from elsewhere in the home. One was armed with a sawn-off shotgun.
“The victim was struck with the shotgun to the head and punched. The offenders demanded property and took the victim’s car keys.”
Detective Sergeant Brown said the victim’s black 2004 Holden Commodore sedan — registration SQA-034 — was last seen being driven towards Portland on the Princes Highway. The vehicle was still missing yesterday afternoon.
“The victim, who received minor injuries, telephoned a friend and was taken to another address. Police were later notified,” he said.
