One of the biggest gigs will be Port Fairy’s annual Moyneyana concert, which will see blues veterans Blue Heat cap off a successful 2014 that included the release of their first studio album in 18 years.
The five-piece will be playing from 9pm on December 31 following a performance from Warrnambool children’s entertainer Barry Peters.
They’ll be performing on the recently completed stage on Port Fairy’s Village Green.
Meanwhile, the Hotel Warrnambool will play host to indie-folk four-piece Sons Of May, which features former Warrnambool guitarist Justin Lewis.
The band released their debut album last month and have just made it available on iTunes.
Original music can also be found at The Loft in Warrnambool, with an eclectic line-up for its New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Headlining will be Melbourne indie-pop quintet Mercury White, Adelaide blues and roots duo Ciaram Granger, Warrnambool alt-rockers The 80 Aces, Warrnambool techno-guitarist Deefin, and the all-star south-west line-up that is Jordan Lockett & The Existential Renegades Of Darkness.
Portland has turned to its local talent for its street party on the Bentinck Street Lawns, with Moroccan Knights and Scott & Danielle performing from 7.30pm.
Back in Warrnambool, Flagstaff Hill’s New Year’s Eve On The Hill event will feature DJ Pepi playing hits from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, City Memorial Bowls Club hosts the Russ Goodear Band and the Whalers Hotel will put on an ’80s party starring local covers band Evareign.
Around the south-west, Koroit’s Commercial Hotel will hold an evening of country music from Trevor Keilar and Robyn Gleeson, the Woolsthorpe Hotel will feature Rock ‘n’ Roll Sandwich, the Yambuk Inn has Kymbo, Huggo & Heidi, Port Fairy’s The Stump boasts Phil Holmes and My Other Brother, while Mickey Bourke’s Koroit Hotel will party thanks to covers from Phil Royle.
