Damian Keane, 21, of Ross Street, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court yesterday to a range of offending including assault, causing damage and breaching an intervention order.
Keane and the victim had been in a relationship for two years.
The woman said in court she now feared for her life and the offending had had a massive impact on her. On October 13, Keane was arrested after kicking, punching and slamming into the woman.
At 4am he was served with an intervention order but just half an hour later he was on his mobile phone threatening to kill the woman and her dog.
He then sent her three text messages, including the picture of a gun, and abused her on Facebook.
Mid last month Keane pleaded guilty to kicking his girlfriend out of bed, ripping up her parents’ lawn and wrestling her father.
He was placed on a 12-month community corrections order.
On November 24 Keane’s girlfriend was back in court amending an intervention order so they could resume contact.
But within days they argued and Keane punched a wall after being asked to help clean up their house.
The next day they argued again, Keane abused, pushed and barged into the woman.
He then kicked her in the lower back, kicked a hole in a wall, grabbed her and punched her to a leg.
Keane was fined $100, received a two-year intensive community corrections order with conditions he undertake alcohol and mental health assessment and treatment, undergo 200 hours’ community work and complete a men’s behaviour change program.
He was also ordered to pay $522.50 for the damage he caused.
Keane will have to come back to court twice for a check on his progress.
