The extension studies program offers VCE students studying health and human development or psychology a chance to take on two university units and start their university experience sooner.
The units count as part of a student’s VCE and ATAR score as a fifth or sixth VCE subject and are credited to the first year of their university course.
Two Warrnambool students successfully completed units as part of a pilot of the extension studies program this year, leading to the program being expanded in 2015.
Head of campus Professor Gerry Quinn said the program gave students a chance to enter university while still studying their VCE.
“It’s an innovative way of progressing students through to degrees,” Professor Quinn said.
“Students have the capacity to pick up university units either online or at the campus, giving them an avenue to enter their preferred area of health or psychology in Warrnambool.”
