AN ICE user caught with a smoking pipe down the front of his pants has been ordered to complete 125 hours’ community work after trying to source drugs for a friend.

Rhys Edward Dance, 23, of Jayarra Street, Simpson, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court this week to trafficking and possessing crystal methamphetamine.
Magistrate John Lesser said trafficking drugs was a serious charge but the community would be best served by Dance receiving assistance through a community corrections order.
Dance was placed on a nine-month work order with the conditions he undertake drug assessment and treatment and programs to reduce his chances of offending.
Police said Dance was the passenger in a car intercepted by police at Bushfield on the evening of October 23.
Officers found two grams of ice in the maroon Holden Commodore and when Dance was arrested they found an ice pipe down the front of his pants.
Text messages on Dance’s mobile phone indicated he had attempted to source drugs for an associate.
Defence counsel Xavier Farrelly said his client had attempted to assist two parties exchange drugs over two days and did not make any money out of the deal.
Mr Farrelly said Dance had lost his employment as a dairy hand as he had become unreliable due to his weekend ice use.
The magistrate warned Dance if he returned to court charged with similar offending he risked going to jail.
