Tim Benson, 25, of Glenrowe Avenue, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court this week to trafficking ice, using both ice and cannabis, dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, committing a serious offence while on bail, driving while suspended and breaching an alcohol interlock driving condition.
Police said that at 5.10pm on November 12 police intercepted Benson while he was driving in Nelson Street.
A check found Benson’s driver’s licence was suspended and there was no alcohol interlock device fitted to the vehicle.
During a search officers found $735 in cash.
There were text messages discovered on Benson’s mobile phone which indicated he was involved in drug trafficking.
Police allege Benson made admissions that he had been trafficking cannabis and ice since he was released from jail on August 31 as a source of income.
He said on the day he was pulled over he had made four drug transactions.
He was already on two lots of bail relating to charges of handling stolen goods and possessing and using cannabis.
Benson’s case was adjourned for sentencing to the Geelong Magistrates Court on January 15 so an employer could be called to give evidence about a potential job.
Benson is also being assessed for his suitability to undertake a community corrections order.
