Leishman, who started the weekend in contention for his maiden Australian major victory, posted a two-over 74 on Saturday before regaining the ground yesterday. He finished at four-under, seven shots behind winner Greg Chalmers.
Three birdies in four holes to close out his front nine yesterday were the highlight of his round.
Leishman, who is based in America, is taking a break from competitive golf to spend Christmas with his family in Warrnambool.
n KILMORE driver Brenton Farrer claimed victory in the 360 Sprintcar Gold Cup at Hamilton’s Western Speedway on Saturday night. He finished ahead of Simpson’s Phil Lock and Skipton’s James Gardiner.
Lock was the leading qualifier but was relegated to second on the grid for the final after being beaten in a pole shootout.
Farrer started the final from position three while Gardiner was the biggest mover in the race after starting from seventh.
