In fifth place, Warrnambool is the highest ranked Victorian city and will have another strong representative in the Australian Open.
Schools and tennis clubs have earned points through various tennis activities, but individuals can still chip in by playing an online game on the Tennis Australia website.
Warrnambool City Council events and promotions coordinator Rebecca Elmes urged citizens to get involved in a bid to push Warrnambool up the table.
"We were coming first just a few weeks ago and we are still in fifth, so I know there is plenty of enthusiasm for the competition around town," Ms Elmes said.
"If everyone does their part, I am confident we can still ace this competition.
"It only takes five minutes to have a go. It doesn't matter if you win or not, just be sure to select Warrnambool as the town you allocate your points to."
The top 256 towns are allocated a player in either the men's or women's Australian Open singles draw as its official representative.
The higher the rank, the higher the seeding of Warrnambool's officially assigned representative player.
If Warrnambool remains fifth it could be represented by players such as 14 time grand slam winner Rafael Nadal or 2014 French Open finalist Simona Halep.
Participants also have the chance to win prizes including televisions, iPads, tennis racquets and tennis balls.
