The 31-year-old German is cycling across half the world to raise funds for World Vision and could not resist the opportunity to cycle along the Great Ocean Road to see the Twelve Apostles.
Mr Mueller arrived in Warrnambool last night after riding for three days along the scenic route from Torquay.
Mr Mueller said he encountered strong headwinds on the ride from Torquay to Apollo Bay but the ride since then had been pleasant.
He intends to take the train back to Melbourne from where he will ride through the summer heat to arrive in Sydney by the end of the month.
Taking the indirect route is nothing new to Mr Mueller who has been on the road since October last year.
So far he has cycled 7200 kilometres through New Zealand and Tasmania and from Sydney he intends to fly to Myanmar to continue his epic ride through to Bangladesh.
He is undertaking the big challenge to raise 10,000 euros ($A14,300) for Project Bhaluka in Bangladesh, where his World Vision-sponsored child lives.
The money raised will go towards building and maintaining resources, such as hospitals, in Bhaluka province.
He has been buoyed by the generosity of those he has encountered so far on his ride and has raised about $5600.
