LAZY rubbish dumpers are littering the coastal reserve at Levys Point near the popular Warrnambool to Port Fairy rail trail.

Several piles of discarded household items, cardboard and polystyrene have been strewn beside access tracks as close as two metres from the route.
City council local laws manager Ian Fitzgibbon warned offenders could be prosecuted.
“If the council finds evidence as to who is responsible for dumping rubbish they will be fined $295,” he said.
“There is a cost to the community for cleaning up dumped rubbish.
“Where there are serious cases of littering, the council will take offenders to court to recover the cost of properly disposing the rubbish. Council would also seek to recover court costs.”
One Warrnambool resident who found household material about 200 metres from the rendering plant said he was angered.
“There were piles of rubbish everywhere,” he told The Standard.
“It’s not a good look, especially with tourism season coming.”
