It has announced open, 17 and under and 15 and under teams for the summer competition, which starts on January 29.
New WDNFL junior netball development officer Sara Lenehan, who will coach the youngest side, said the association was rapt with its final squads.
The Western Region competition has introduced a 15 and under competition next year, giving more teenagers a chance to improve their netball and prepare for club seasons.
“We had excellent try-out participation with juniors this year,” Lenehan said.
“We have a good variety (of players), particularly in the under 17s.
“We should be fairly competitive.
“In the 15s our defensive end is quite strong and possibly our goalies, if we can get them working well together.
“They haven’t really experienced state league and are not used to the extended quarters, so we took some more midcourters.
“The under 17s have tall towers up each end and the extra midcourters will help as well.”
Lenehan said Merrivale’s Danielle McInerney worked hard to put together the open team.
The WDFNL junior teams will train on Thursday nights in the lead-up to the Christmas break.
Lenehan hopes they will return to practice three weeks before the start of the Western Region State League season.
