Police swooped on nine houses in Sunbury, Riddells Creek and Romsey on Thursday as part of an operation targeting ice trafficking in the Hume Local Government area.

Nine people were arrested on drugs, weapons, burglary and theft charges.

Inspector Steve White said the raids were the result of information from the community, and encouraged more people to come forward with tips about ice trafficking.

"The community can be assured that the information that they provide us about these activities will be acted upon confidentially," he said.

A 57-year-old man was charged with firearms possession and a 19-year-old woman was charged with weapons offences and possessing methamphetamine. A 39-year-old man was charged with possessing an imitation firearm and cannabis.

A 24-year-old man was charged with possessing methamphetamine, cultivating cannabis and possessing ammunition, and a 40-year-old man was charged with possessing cannabis and theft of a motor car.
