Ted, who was forced to ride his Honda 125cc bike because of engine problems with his quicker moto 3 Honda, finished the three-race series at Broadford on Sunday with one third and two second-placings.
The 15-year-old’s three podiums were enough to finish second overall behind Ballarat’s Matt Barton. Ted’s father Jon said the difference between a 125cc two-stroke bike and the four-stroke moto 3 bike was about one second a lap. Matt rode a moto 3 bike.
The time of one minute and 2.40 seconds was half a second quicker than his previous best on the 125 bike at the track.
The championships wrap up Ted’s 2014 campaign. He is now preparing for next year’s Australian titles in the 125cc/moto 3 category with the first of five rounds at Phillip Island from February 19-22.
