Sergeant Martin Flannery, of Portland police, said officers imposed drink-driving charges not only on the driver but also on another driver who took the first driver away after she fled the scene.
Sergeant Flannery said police were called to the scene of the crash about 10pm on Friday.
The vehicle involved was gone but police were able to identify it because its front bumper bar, with licence plate attached, fell off in the crash and remained on site.
While police were on site, the vehicle was driven past the accident site by another driver and stopped by police.
The first driver of the car, a Portland woman in her 20s on a probationary licence, recorded a blood-alcohol reading of .097 and was summoned to appear in court at a later date.
Her licence was suspended until her court appearance.
The second driver, also a Portland woman in her 20s, was on a learner’s permit and recorded an blood-alcohol reading of .091.
She was served with an on the spot fine and her licence was suspended for at least nine months.
In other Portland police news, the hosts of a noisy party in Bancroft Street, Portland, were issued with a $738 fine early on Friday morning.
Sergeant Flannery said the hosts were warned by police following noise complaints and were issued with the fine a few hours later when the noise had not declined.
