Hunger’s side hosts the South West Cricket division one match on its turf wicket — one of only two in the top grade.
Terang played on the same strip in last week’s tense win against arch-rival Noorat, giving Hunger and his teammates intimate knowledge of the track.
Batting wasn’t easy last week but Hunger believes more runs will flow today.
Terang regains Country Week representative Jay Wynd, a former captain, at the top of the batting order for the crucial match. Both sides have three wins, one draw and a loss from their five matches.
After missing finals last season, Hunger said Terang was keen to post early wins this season, especially against sides around it on the ladder. He said a lack of wins before Christmas last year all-but killed its finals aspirations.
“It’s games like this that are vitally important,” he said.
The match is the last of a block of one-day games.
“I would be really happy if we could end the one-dayers with a win,” Hunger said.
“I’ve been really happy with how we have started.”
Hunger said his side’s batting had been built around even contributions, something he was hoping for today. But with two-day matches starting next week, he said his batsmen had an added focus.
The first priority with the bat is to stay at the crease for the full innings.
“It’s good practice with 75 over games coming up. A real focus is take responsibility for our wickets and not get ourselves out,” Hunger said.
Terang will be without young bowler Tyson Hay today but with Wynd returning, is almost at full strength.
Hunger is conscious his side needs to bowl well against Bookaar’s in-form top order.
Fourth-placed Noorat hosts sixth-placed Cobden, bottom side Simpson will be chasing its first win of the season against seventh-placed Pomborneit, while fifth-placed Heytesbury Rebels confront unbeaten top side Mortlake.
