Steven Bausch, 25, of Laverock Road, unsuccessfully applied for bail in Warrnambool Magistrates Court last month and was remanded in custody.
Yesterday, he appeared via a video link from custody.
Mr Bausch has indicated he will plead guilty to some charges and negotiations between the police and a solicitor are expected to continue until the next court date on February 24 with the aim of resolving all matters. Mr Bausch is also expected to see a psychiatrist and a mental health report will be prepared for the court.
Police previously told the court that at 4.25am on October 24 police were called to a service station where Mr Bausch appeared nervous and agitated. Mr Bausch had fled but was soon caught. Police searched his bag and found a knife and 15 grams of ice valued at $15,000.
There had been a warrant out for Mr Bausch’s arrest after he failed to appear in Dandenong Magistrates Court on October 17.
