Its year 7 boys’ side went undefeated at the School Sport Victoria finals day in Melbourne on Thursday.
Joe Sycopoulis, Pratheek Josy, Alec McKenna and Nick Goodman teamed up to defeat Brunswick Secondary College in the grand final, 3-12 (226) to 3-11 (224).
Warrnambool College teacher Zacc Struth said the two teams were evenly matched.
“Joe and Pratheek were the one and two players so they took on the top players,” he said.
“They both played really well and won their games.
“Alec and Nick had close games and won enough to keep them in the running to win it.
“Then it was down to doubles.
“Joe and Nick won their game but Pratheek and Alec couldn’t.”
Struth said it was a fantastic result for Warrnambool College.
“They all put in a really good effort,” he said.
“They were all really excited.”
It was a much better bus trip home when they got the win.”
Warrnambool College had three teams make the table tennis state finals day.
Its year 8 boys’ and intermediate boys’ combinations also competed in Melbourne.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel College’s year eight boys cricket side is off to the MCG on December 3 after winning through to the state Twenty20 finals.
