More than 90,000 people saw Signoff force his way into the $6 million race with an impressive win in the Lexus Stakes.
Signoff, who is trained at Weir's Warrnambool satellite stable, automatically qualified for the race that stops a nation with the victory.
Winslow trainer Ciaron Maher was forced to scratch Marksmanship from the race because the horse was short in his action this morning.
But Maher will have a cup runner. Owners, including Warrnambool's Geoff and Lyn McLaren, decided to pay the last fee of $49,500 for Mr O'Ceirin to contest the famous race.
