The Junior Sedan Promotions Association (JPSA) is behind the eight-round series, which will take teens across Victoria.
The initiative is a way of lifting numbers in the class and encouraging drivers to travel to compete, with lucrative prizes on offer.
The overall high points scorer — in A and B grades — wins a new SRE engine, while the grade champions will earn a car wrap from Allstar Graphics.
JSPA president Leigh Van Ginneken said 28 cars had nominated for round one tonight.
Numbers are likely to increase in coming months.
“It’s just to try and get more numbers at each race meeting and give them something to race for,” Van Ginneken said.
“At the end of the year, someone wins the aggregate but we’ve also got the series.
“In a couple of years’ time they can say ‘back in juniors I won the series’.”
Junior sedans is one of four classes in action at Western Speedway tonight.
The meeting also features round two of the Southern Speedcar Tour and round two of AMCA Nationals’ state series.
Formula 500 drivers will hit the track for the first time this season for round one of the Victorian Stampede Series.
