The annual Port Fairy show will be held on Saturday and another bumper event is expected.
Crowd numbers were at an all-time high last year and a hard-working show committee is hoping to repeat that feat.
Port Fairy has become a popular destination for the Melbourne Cup long weekend with many in the city taking the chance to come to the seaside town.
This year the show falls on the cup weekend, setting the scene for a large number of visitors through the showgrounds gates, along with locals.
One of the most successful shows in country Victoria, the Port Fairy show has a strong reputation as a family-friendly event.
It pioneered the use of prepaid armbands which allow children unlimited access to rides for a one set price.
This year the armbands will cost families $15 per child.
Show president Anita Watts said the focus on families was again high on the agenda.
“We want it to be an affordable day for everyone and the armbands certainly help achieve that,” Mrs Watts said.
“We had a great day last year and everyone had a good time so we are hoping people come back for more this year.”
The other major strength of the show has been the healthy numbers it continues to attract for its exhibitions and competitions.
Mrs Watts is expecting the community to again be active in this area. “Going on the last few years, we are really confident of strong numbers in the pavilion exhibitions.
“Cattle and horse numbers should also be strong and we have room for 120 chooks and we should get near that.”
Other features of the show will be an animal nursery, emergency services displays, vintage engines and a sheep shearing exhibition.
