GREG Burgoyne has been appointed the new boss of Glenelg Shire.

The council reshuffled its top jobs this week, also electing councillor Rob Halliday as the new mayor.
Mr Burgoyne - a former businessman, turned council corporate services manager was appointed chief executive officer on Tuesday night in Portland.
He takes on the position after holding directorships with Shell Australia, Gogas, Shell Services, Shell Fiji, Shell New Caledonia, Shell Tahiti, Shell PNG and Trustee Shell Super Fund.
More recently he served as the Director of Business, Finance and Property with the New South Wales Police Force.
Originally from Portland, he returned to the south-west in 2013 to work for Glenelg Shire.
"I applied for the CEO role because I thought my commercial experience and customer focus would be of benefit to the community," he said in a statement.
"The priority will be to focus on areas that benefit the ratepayers."
Mr Burgoyne replaces former chief executive Sharon Kelsey.
There were 80 applicantions for the position.
In comes a day after the council voted in Rob Halliday as mayor replacing councillor John Northcott.
Cr Halliday returns to the position 27 years after first holding the post and has lived in Portland since 1948.
"The mayor is one person in the larger council team and each individual councillor plays an important role in that team," Cr Halliday said.
"It is a priority for all of us that Glenelg Shire Council works well as one council representing the entire shire.
The mayor welcomed the appointment of Mr Burgoyne.
"With the appointment of the new CEO...Greg Burgoyne, this is now the perfect chance for fresh eyes to look at Glenelg Shire and where the opportunities are," he said.
