The timber pub with a corrugated iron roof, known as the "Woori", collapsed under the weight of the fire, operations officer Stuart Walker said. The hotel was believed to have been about 60 years old.
Mr Walker said the fire took over an hour to put out. He said the fire was difficult to contain because there was insufficient water at the site. Firefighters were forced to pump water from a fire hydrant 500 metres away. It took 20 fire vehicles to put the fire out.
