More than 350 people took part in weekend tours of the station, getting a first-hand look at a Victoria Police member’s workplace and duties.
Senior Sergeant Shane Keogh said 25 to 30 were prospective recruits.
“It’s a great day for getting the public in to have a look at what we do and what’s involved in a modern police station,” he said. “The tour takes in the cells, the officers, interview rooms, checking out the safety equipment. The kids are particularly interested in the safety gear — the weight of the protection jackets is around 15 to 18 kilos.”
