It has risen from Western District Bowls Division Tuesday pennant division one struggler to top-four contender.
Warrnambool Blue wants to extend its unbeaten start to the 2014-15 campaign to three when it meets Port Fairy Gold today.
“We’ve jumped out of the hurdles but we have to stay in front,” Grummett said.
“We didn’t make the top four last year and were second last on the ladder.
“We were lucky enough to stay in division one.
“We have a little goal and we are aiming to keep ourselves in the top four if we can.
“It was pleasing and exciting to win against City Memorial Gold on the first day and we had a good win last week against the Timboon ladies.”
Grummett credited Warrnambool Blue’s team work for its emphatic start to the season.
She plays third to Helen Lock and has enjoyed playing a role in that rink.
“We are a very cohesive team and are very keen,” Grummett said.
“We have some wonderful skippers and three wonderful teams of ladies.
“She (Lock) has been winning with the biggest margins so far out of the three teams in Blue and Shirley Kosch has been playing really well with her team,” she said.
“And Marie Lynch comes into skipper the other team.
“All the ladies look forward to playing with her because she’s a top-line skipper.”
Port Fairy Gold third Anne Mallett said it was paramount her side played to the conditions today if it wanted to respond from its last-start loss to City Memorial Green.
“We had a horrendous day last week with the wind but everyone had the same and you have to adjust to it but we weren’t able to,” she said.
“The greens were running really fast and we had trouble controlling our bowls.”
Mallett said Port Fairy Gold was quietly confident of its chances today.
“We have the same team and apparently it will be quite a nice day,” she said.
“Hopefully the home-ground advantage might help us and we’ll try and have a win.
“We all enjoy our home greens. There’s always an advantage because all the greens are very different.”
In other round three fixtures, Timboon Gold hosts City Memorial Green, unbeaten Warrnambool Gold plays Terang, and City Memorial Gold will attempt to return to the winners’ list against Lawn Tennis Green.
