The league is contemplating replacing the top-five system with a top six.
League president Ken McSween said clubs had a chance to voice their opinions on the proposal at a forum on Wednesday night.
He said the executive would collate the feedback before making a decision.
“At this stage it’s still in limbo,” he said. “I’m not saying it will go ahead and I’m not saying it won’t.
“At the moment I need to sit down and wait for (league general manager) Dianne (Membery) to collate the information so I get a picture.
“We may decide to put it on the back burner.
“But it’s not something we will put in the cupboard and not bring out again.
“Over time, people’s opinions may change.
“I said when they’re on my watch they will get new ideas thrown at them all the time.”
The substitute rule, which was implemented last season, runners, umpiring, Sunday fixtures and Anzac Day were also discussed at the forum.
“They are all things we have to consider for next year so we have to see where the clubs are at,” McSween said.
“Finals were discussed and whether there was something we could do in finals.
“Most of them were happy with the way the finals are run and operated.
“The only thing they’d like, and we’ll look at it between now and next year, is the use of two runners in the finals.
“We have one at the moment. It (an increase) is something most clubs would like to see.
“My personal thing is if you have two in finals you’re probably better off having two runners all year.”
Warrnambool and District league’s annual general meeting is on November 26.
