Ashley Raymond McDowall appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court yesterday for a committal mention. A committal was set down to be heard on February 26 next year.
Mr McDowall has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.
The court heard yesterday that three eyewitnesses and a police officer were expected to be called to give evidence.
Office of Public Prosecutions solicitor Raeleene Maxwell said it was expected the witnesses would explain how a vehicle came to be on the wrong side of the road.
Solicitor Carolyn Howe said information about wind strength was being gathered from the Bureau of Meteorology, which would be forwarded to a crash reconstructionist.
She said the three eyewitnesses would explain the situation at the scene at the time of the accident.
Magistrate Peter Mellas questioned the value of the witnesses when he said the evidence of the crash reconstructionist would be crucial.
Initial reports indicated the accident happened near Brucknell on September 28 last year, which resulted in the death of a 46-year-old Timboon woman.
The accident involved a Ford sedan heading east and a van travelling west on the Timboon-Nullawarre Road just after 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
It happened on a bend, just east of the Brucknell Park Scout Camp.
