New show convener Amanda Manifold said it was an amazing turnout — “the best show in 15 years”.
“We’ve just been so happy with the way it’s all run. We’ve had some lovely comments and we simply couldn’t have asked for a better day in terms of the way everything went and the weather,” she said.
“Having the woodchop back was great. It was a real drawcard. We’ve not had as many cattle for 15 years.”
Ms Manifold said there was a also a great array of food.
“We had people come from Melbourne, the whole revamp was fantastic,” she said. “Gate-wise and crowd-wise we were over double from last year.
“We had people say they had not seen so much traffic around the showgrounds in 35 years.
“The hope is that everyone who came will go home, say they had a great day and the show can be even bigger and better next year. We’re all still on a high at the moment,” she said.
The plan of the show committee was to restore the event to include many traditional attractions that had been lost over the years as well as bring in some fresh crowd-pleasers.
The novelty events included an apple-bobbing contest, a new section for donkeys, a pet parade, puppet show, balloon animals and the farmers’ challenge test of everyday farming skills.
