The High Street club is staging a fours tournament to mark the occasion, with teams from as far as Geelong West and Ocean Grove travelling to compete.
The teams will play four 10-end matches throughout the day. Those who go unbeaten will take part in play-offs.
The winning team receives $4000 prizemoney.
Koroit chairman Barry Padgham said the tournament, dubbed Super Sunday, would complement a centenary function the club will stage in a fortnight.
“I suppose we started talking about it 12 months ago with the previous board. It’s just progressively unfolded from there,” he said.
“We had to establish sponsorship, get things organised. It’s been in the making for a while.
“In addition to the centenary tournament, we’ve got a centenary luncheon two weeks later, which is another solid occasion.”
Padgham said the history of Koroit Bowls Club stretched to 1913. Colonial Bank manager Mr Peters, first name unknown, united with the mayor of the day Martin Bourke to establish the club on October 7.
But the bowling green did not get laid until February the following year, with the opening day finally going ahead on October 13, 1914, 100 years ago.
“There was a bit of a drought in 1914, which made establishing the green very difficult,” Padgham said.
“That’s part of the reason it took some time,” .
