Frost was runner-up in the group two competition bike class debuting on his Suzuki GSX-R 124 at Adelaide International Raceway on Sunday.
The experienced racer lost to Western Australian Rob Wasely in the final. But he emerged rapt with the result, contesting the class for the first time.
He reached a top speed of 217km/h (136mph) and clocked a best time of 8.116 seconds for the 400-metre strip.
“It would’ve been awesome to win but runner-up on the bike for the first time, I couldn’t have asked for more,” Frost said.
He said the plan to step up to group two level had been years in the making. He has contested the group three modified bike class for more than a decade, aboard a Kawasaki ZX10, but always wanted to test himself further.
“We’ve been number two in Australia twice (in modified bike) and in the top five every time we’ve done a full season,” he said.
“We’ve just decided, the team and I, to see what we can do on a quicker bike, see how far we can go.
“Hopefully we can get some sponsors on board to allow us to achieve the goals we want to.”
