Warrnambool Greyhound Racing Club called off its 12-race meeting about 3.30pm when its lure motor failed following wild weather.
Manager Mick Cottee said the conditions caused problems with a power box about 11am.
“We’ve had Powercor here and they’ve had a look and identified there was a problem with one of the outside power boxes at the ag society,” he said.
“They realised that a phase had dropped out. We replaced the phase, put the races back two races, tested everything and the lure motor had no power.
“We tried to identify why there wasn’t any power coming through. But we weren’t able to get it running in time to get the meeting going.”
Cottee said Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) and Powercor staff would be at Wannon Park today seeking to resolve the issue.
The track is scheduled to next host racing tomorrow and Sunday.
“We’ve got a GRV guy coming down first thing in the morning and we’ve got Powercor to come and check the power sources tomorrow morning as well,” Cottee said.
“They’ll go through and test everything and try to identify what’s caused (the issue) and hopefully we can get it fixed by Thursday.”
