The Proudfoots on the River co-owner has taken up the Ocsober challenge and will stay away from his favourite tipple for 31 days.
Now in its sixth year, Ocsober encourages participants to give up alcohol during October to raise awareness of the issues relating to alcohol abuse.
“I invite as many people as possible to join,” Mr Grace said. “We can start a power team and invite the whole town to join Team Warrnambool.”
Mr Grace also called on other liquor license holders or hotel/bar owners to take up the cause.
“From a personal perspective I’ve never been shy of a drink,” he said.
“I am looking forward to see what achievements can made during the month off.”
Money raised supports Life Education, the organisation delivering vital health education in schools, supported by its mascot, Healthy Harold. Life Education and its team of educators teach Australian children how to make safer and healthier choices about drug and alcohol use.
This year they are aiming to raise more than $1 million during Ocsober to help Life Education to travel to schools across Australia.
More than 5000 people around Australia are expected to go without alcohol for 31 days to raise money.
Ocsober starts nationally from today. For more information and to sign up go to ocsober.com.au
