Warrnambool policeman Senior Constable Dan Hunt said the driver accelerated south through the roundabout about 2pm when his Ford sedan — emblazoned with a ‘Catattack’ logo on its bonnet — lost traction, overcorrected and finished in a precarious position on its side beside a power pole.
The driver, his parents and another young woman were not seriously injured.
Senior Constable Hunt said it was fortunate no one was seriously injured, but the Falcon sedan would require extensive repairs. A tension wire attached to the power pole was also damaged.
Inquiries into the cause of the incident were continuing, he said.
Police, ambulance, fire brigade and Powercor workers attended.
