The crash happened on the Calder Alternative Highway in Lockwood South on Tuesday afternoon.
Police believe the man was driving south when his car collided with a north-bound truck.

The driver of the car died at the scene.
The truck driver is believed to be a man in his 50s, and is assisting police with their investigation.
Police confirmed that the highway would remain closed while they continue to investigate.
