Across the weekend two mothers and calves were spied relaxing just out from the whale watching platform.

A crowd gathered to watch the whales frolicking close to the shore and surfers shared the water with the ocean giants.

Whale watcher Peter Read said hundreds of people had been out to see the whales.

“We’ve got one cow and calf that’s been here for seven days,” he said. “They were previously here for 20 days before they left, but now they have come back.”

Mr Read said hundreds of people  visited the Logans Beach platform to get a glimpse of the whales.

“It has been really good for the visitors,” he said. “Both cows and calves are interacting a bit. One of the calves has been belly rolling. The crowds have seen some action.”

Sunny weather had also proved a hit with whale watchers.

“It has been perfect weather wise,” Mr Read said.
