But the Koroit recruit finally snared an A grade flag on Saturday after playing a key role in the Saints’ overtime win against Hamilton Kangaroos.
Lang played in five straight top-grade grand final losses for her Horsham District league club Edenhope-Apsley before joining Koroit this season.
The goaler said she was thrilled to finally end her grand final hoodoo.
“It is quite unbelievable and you still have that doubt,” she said.
“I reminisced all week about those five and to hear the siren was just a relief and to think ‘thank god all that work has paid off’.
“I got butterflies in my tummy. I was like ‘I cannot believe we’ve just done this’ and I have just done it with the best seven girls.”
Lang started at goal shooter but was taken off at half-time with just two goals to her name.
Rachel Dobson stepped in to play alongside goal attack Carley Thomas and scored seven goals in the third term.
But Dobson dropped just one goal in the final term as the game went into extra time.
Lang returned to the court in extra time, scoring six goals in the tense finish.
“My goals just weren’t going in (early) so we had to change and then in the last half (extra time) they wanted another change, just for more running,” she said.
“I just had confidence then and they (my teammates) had confidence in me and they went in.”
Lang said she intended to remain at Koroit next season.
