The former Richmond and Geelong forward-ruckman showed his elite skills by hitting the target. The competition is part of annual half-time entertainment during the Hampden Football Netball League grand final.
Radio commentator Matty Stewart had announced Food Share as the recipient for the charity kick-off competition among celebrity guests after several contestants had missed in the earlier open challenge.
Watching in the large crowd was Warrnambool and District Food Share executive officer Dedy Friebe who could hardly believe his good fortune.
“This was an amazing windfall and comes just after our public appeal which raised about $10,000,” he told The Standard yesterday.
“It’s a tremendous gesture of goodwill and a fantastic outcome for the sponsor. The money will help us achieve our goal of having a permanent distribution centre.
“Food Share is becoming an essential service for Warrnambool and district families facing adversity.
“We serve more than 500 people a month, with up to 70 hampers a week. Our services go as far as Portland and Hamilton and we supply schools and soup kitchens,” Mr Friebe said.
