John Forbes, 24, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates Court this week on charges relating to the death of Yarraville’s Katie Louise Broadbent, 35, who was found dead in a flattened tent on January 26.
The court heard Forbes would plead guilty to dangerous driving causing death.
The case was adjourned to a County Court plea hearing in November and he was released on bail.
Police allege Forbes had consumed ecstasy and had a blood-alcohol concentration more than four times the legal limit when he drove his blue Volvo sedan over his mates’ girlfriend’s tent.
Yarraville theatre technician Ms Broadbent was sleeping in her tent when the accident happened about 6am.
In a statement to police, Samantha Turner said Forbes ignored her concerns and continued revving his engine in an attempt to release the tent after it became tangled under his car.
