Albert Road residents will showcase their pristine yards at Gardens on the Edge, organised by WET Inc. and Port Fairy CWA.
CWA secretary Jenny Grenfell said the open garden day was a real community effort.
“We have the gardens on Albert Road open,” she said.
“We’ve got nine places open and a couple of cottages as well.”
After exploring the gardens, people are invited to enjoy refreshments at one of the homes.
“We are having afternoon tea at Korongah House,” Ms Grenfell said.
The two groups are fund-raising to help the Letefoho Senior School in East Timor.
“Port Fairy Country Women’s Association and Water East Timor Inc. are working together,” Ms Grenfell said.
“We are raising funds to put on a new roof, buy new tanks and to ensure the school has running water.”
Gardens open along the Albert Road trail include Clonmara Cottages garden, Arrondoon Cottage, Slatra House and garden, Milliner’s Cottage and garden, Bob and Lynda’s Garden and Quilts, Stromness House garden and Korongah House and garden.
Tickets are $25 and available on the day or before from the Port Fairy Tourist Information Centre.
