More than 300 people have inspected the plans in a temporary display shop and about 70 have completed feedback forms.
City renewal manager Tanya Egan said almost 90 per cent of those who had visited the display shop at 141 Liebig Street were positive about the proposed changes and keen to see them implemented.
“People have been enthusiastic about the focus on public art, improved conditions for pedestrians and cyclists and the wider parking spaces,” she said.
“The remaining 10 to 15 per cent were not sure about some elements of the plan. Some said they wondered if it would help populate the shops, but we have heard from a major property owner that the upgrade would help make the street section investment-ready.
“There were people keen to see improvements to Parkers car park to ensure it is a convenient alternative space to Liebig Street.”
Some readers of The Standard have questioned the proposed removal of 15 bays from Liebig Street to allow for wider bays and several short-term multi-use bays, as well as a proposed speed limit reduction to 20km/h.
Specific extra questions on parking have been added to the feedback forms, including time limits for short-term bays, tariffs for Parkers car park and a suggested alternative taxi rank in Lava Street.
Plans will be on display at 141 Lava Street from today to Saturday.
