Auctioneer Brian Hancock of Brian O’Halloran & Co said about 45 people were present to watch two local parties battling it out for the well-positioned home.
“It went exceptionally well — all parties were happy,” Mr Hancock said of the final selling price of $470,000. The auction opened with a vendor’s bid of $400,000 and climbed in $5000 increments to $455,000.
It then moved back and forth between the two parties in $2500 rises before reaching its final price.
Mr Hancock said that unlike other houses nearby, the house had not had any recent major renovations.
He said it was on a large block with views of the city and across the bay to the breakwater.
A property at 2/12 Janlor Drive in Warrnambool was passed in on a vendors bid of $200,000. Agent Justin Allen, from Northeast Stockdale and Leggo, said the property was now on the market at $215,000.
