Then burn it off at the White Balloon Day Walk.
Warrnambool man Tim Brosowsky is organising the walk on behalf of the Bravehearts organisation, which fights child sexual abuse.
“White Balloon Day is Bravehearts’ key fund-raising and awareness initiative which aims to put an end to child sexual assault in our society,” Mr Brosowski said.
“Bravehearts mission is to make Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child.”
Mr Brosowsky said although the topic of sexual assault against children remains somewhat taboo, it was important to shine a light on the subject.
“As a police officer and former foster parent I have come to realise that these issues exist right here in south-west Victoria. If we can provide a better childhood for even one child by organising this event then I will see it as a huge success.”
The family event will start at 3pm outside the Harbour Pavilion with live music by Laura Smock.
“We ask that participants wear a white shirt and make a small donation in return for a white balloon,” Mr Brosowsky said. “We will then all walk together along the breakwater with our balloons as a symbol of unity to protect children.”
Mr Brosowsky encouraged participants to stick around after the walk for prize giveaways and to create their own #whoRUprotecting selfies.
Bravehearts have launched the selfie campaign to raise awareness and photos can be uploaded on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Natoure Organic Body Care will have products for sale with a portion of proceeds going to Bravehearts.
