It's been almost 40 years since Richmond last played in two consecutive finals series and Tigers fans are preparing to make the pilgrimage to Adelaide for Sunday's match against Port Adelaide.

For lifelong fan Damien James, seeing Richmond playing finals is a rare opportunity.
"I find it hard to believe that when the finals arrive, some Hawthorn supporters check their diaries before deciding whether to attend a final or not," he said.
"Life isn't like that when you barrack for Richmond Football Club."
In Mr James' lifetime, Richmond has only won one flag and that was 34 years ago.
"I've often wondered if I'd ever see another one again, it's getting harder every year. Next week isn't a grand final, but it's a final and my family and I wouldn't miss it for the world."
Mr James, chief executive of podiatry company Aged Foot Care, believes Richmond supporters are football's most passionate fans.
"I travelled to the Gold Coast for the first game of the year. I even forfeited two tickets I had to the formula one in Melbourne," he said.
"I remember how exciting it was for me as a kid when Richmond won the 1980 premiership. It's one of my most cherished childhood memories. Hopefully the young Tiges out there will share in that experience one day soon."
Fellow supporter James Hutchison was hoping the winning streak would bring respect for the team in the coming seasons.
"If you're my age, a 30-something Richmond fan, then you don't even remember the 1980 grand final. We've had little success to hang our hat on," he said.
"Not only that but along the way we've developed a reputation of choking at the last line. It's really frustrating."
Mr Hutchison returned from Europe in early July and since his return the Tigers haven't lost a game.
"If we can get tickets my brother and I will be going by road trip. There will be a pilgrimage on Saturday across Murray Bridge," he said.
President of the Tigers cheer squad, Gerard Egan, will also be attending Sunday's clash against Port Adelaide, and believes there will be a throng of Tiger fans.
"My phone was ringing 30 seconds after the siren with people wanting tickets to the match," he said.
"Halfway through the season there were a lot of Richmond supporters who put the season to bed, but the last two months have been a joy ride."
Critics are sceptical of Richmond's chances to progress any further than Sunday's final, but the message from the fans is "anything is possible".
"Within the next few years I can see the premiership cup making its way to Punt Road Oval at least once, if not twice," Mr Egan said.
"We can fight it out."
