Senior Constable Ash Ellemor said an extensive search was almost launched last week after fishing gear was found on cliffs near Peterborough.
“Last week we were trying to track down fishermen who left gear at a cliff edge at Peterborough. We were concerned about the whereabouts of the fishermen. We were not notified by anyone,” he said.
“It almost resulted in coastal search involving the Victoria Police air wing. We were fortunate to track them down and the wellbeing of the fishermen was confirmed.”
A chair, fishing rod, fishing equipment and Esky were left at a cliff edge.
