They are the ingredients for the ice bucket challenge, the latest craze to sweep across the world through the powerful and irresistible channels of social media.
Yes, it’s a little bit crazy but it’s also heaps of fun and it is for a good cause — to raise awareness and money for motor neurone disease.
The rules are simple: you agree to have a bucket of ice chucked over your head and then you challenge someone else to do the same within 24 hours.
People can either choose to donate, perform the challenge or do both. Most people do both because not only is it very refreshing to be ‘iced’, but it’s also a good laugh.
Now it’s Warrnambool’s and the south-west’s turn to show what it can do when faced with the challenge.
Local radio personalities Matthew Monk, Matty Stewart and Lauren Temuskos from Coast FM’s breakfast show are leading the charge.
They want as many people as possible to turn up at Warrnambool’s Harbour Pavilion at 9.30 on Sunday morning armed with their own bucket for a crack at the world’s biggest ice bucket challenge.
Celebrities around the world, never shy of the limelight, have taken up the challenge in droves and it is a thought-provoking example of how powerful social media can be in selling a message.
Locally it is a fantastic idea from the presenters at Coast FM, a golden opportunity to capitalise on the hype while at the same time shining the spotlight on Warrnambool and raising money for something worthwhile. Could it get any better?
All they need now are the participants — that’s you, your friends, your family and your neighbours.
The world’s biggest ice bucket challenge is in your hands, Warrnambool and the south-west, and you know you can do it.
If you haven’t done something fun for a while, why not hit the beach on Sunday morning and take the challenge?
Go on, you know you want to.
